CityPointe Church presents donation to homeless ministry, City of Plant City

CityPointe Church only opened last month, but the new church is already making a big impact in the community.

After its first service on Jan. 31, the church held an offering which raised $6,000 dollars. On Monday, Feb. 22,

Pastor Scott McIntosh presented Mayor Rick Lott with a check for $3,000 dollars to be used for summer programs.

Pastor Scott McIntosh presented City Commissioners with a check for $3,000 dollars. The money will go toward the Parks and Recreation Department's summer programs.

On Monday, Feb. 29, McIntosh once again presented a donation. This time, he gave the remaining $3,000 dollars to Ministerio Voces Angelicales. The name of the organization, headed by Blanca Rodriguez, translates to Angelic Voices Ministry. The ministry is dedicated to helping Plant City's homeless obtain clothing, food and shelter.

Rodriguez and her team feed the homeless every third Saturday at the Winter Visitor Center on Dort Street, and they collected food and clothing for the homeless during Christmastime.

In order to help the homeless, Rodriguez and her team run a Spanish ministry bookstore on Reynolds Street, Libreria Cristiana de Jesus. The name translates to Jesus Christian Bookstore. The second floor of the building operates as the ministry’s office. All funds from the bookstore go to helping the homeless.

McIntosh and his team at CityPointe Church decided to donate the money to the two organizations based on resident input and feedback from the community.
