Youth talent show taking auditions

The Next Radical Generation is excited to host a Youth Vocalist Talent Show beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Plant City Entertainment, 101 N. Thomas St. Audition videos, taken on smart phones or other personal devices, are due by May 1 and should be submitted through email to NRGSingOutLoud@gmail.com.

The competition is open to elementary, middle, and high school students.

Tickets to the talent show may be purchased online at nrg.ticketleap.com/nrgsingoutloud. The cost is $12 for general admission, and $20 for reserved seating.

NRG’s remaining original members, Arie Fry, Bryson Keel, Emmy Menia, and Ashtyn Steele, are the talent show emcees. Retiring from NRG to prepare for the final high school years and future college life, the original members are including their farewell performance in the event. NRG’s members strongly desire to leave a legacy by investing in future performers, making sure others in Plant City know their own dreams can be achieved.

Yvonne Fry, Arie’s mother, founded NRG over four years ago when he was in sixth grade.

“Arie and a lot of his friends enjoyed performing and were forced to go to Tampa and Orlando for greater opportunities,” Fry said. “We decided to create a performance school in Plant City of the highest possible caliber and give them a lot of stage time.”

With a brand that was described as “radical,” because they make good choices and sing positive pop songs, everyone who has been part of NRG developed their vocal, dancing, and speaking skills, and they also grew in many other ways. Focusing on life skills, like teamwork, personal responsibility, confidence, commitment, and giving back to the community made each student better equipped for whatever career they ultimately choose.

NRG members have very diverse and unique opportunities, such as appearing in a musical in New York City, shooting a feature film in North Carolina, singing for a presidential rally, writing and recording their own music, and shooting music videos.

NRG expanded to include younger groups in its second year and is holding auditions for new performers in grades K-9 on May 30 and June 2.
