For younger athletes who still want to participate in football but not at the high school level, the City of Plant City is proud to offer a youth flag football program for the 2024 season. Although schedules have not been announced yet due to registration still being open, it has been determined that the season will run from September 14 until November 2, with games being held every Saturday morning beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Otis M. Andrews Sports Complex.
2024 will mark the 58th season of the Plant City Flag Football League, which offers “rec-level, non-contact fun,” according to their website. The biggest goal of the league is to teach learning, teamwork and enjoyment.
In previous years, Plant City and its surrounding unincorporated areas have also been home to several independent youth football programs, such as the Bealsville Eagles, Pinecrest Pilots, Plant City Colts, Plant City Dolphins, and Turkey Creek Trojans.
The Pinecrest Pilots held their first invitational of the season, the Pilots Jamboree, on August 3. Teams had the chance to face off against the visiting Carrollwood Packers and Land O Lakes Gators. The Plant City Dolphins also attended the Dover Patriots Jamboree on August 3.
Both the Pilots and the Dolphins, as well as the Colts, Trojans, and Eagles, began their regular seasons on August 10.
