Wawa to hold grand opening

The new Wawa off Thonotosassa Road will host its grand opening at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, with a schedule full of festivities.

A charitable hoagie building competition will pit members of the Plant City Police Department and the Plant City Fire Rescue against each other. Hoagies for Heroes will challenge each team to build the most hoagies in three minutes in the traditional Wawa way. Wawa will conclude the Hoagies for Heroes competitions by presenting checks on behalf of the winning and runner up teams for $1,000. The money will be given to the charities of their choice.

The store will also be offering free coffee for the first 10 days the store is open.

In attendance will be Wawa Director of Store Operations, Todd Souders; Wawa Area Manager, Peter Rasmussen; Wawa General Manager, Aaron Hope; Wawa associates and customers; and Wawa’s mascot, Wally Goose, who will all join together for a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

This is the 58th Wawa store to open in Florida. Throughout the year, Wawa plans to open 45 new stores across its service area.
