VIDEO: Relay for Life 2013

The many participants at this weekend’s Relay for Life proved that “curing cancer is sweet.”

The most current amount raised by the 72 teams is $230,000. But it’s not the final total. The goal for this year is $275,000.

The candy theme lured walkers off the track and into team tents to taste cupcakes, candy and other goodies. Children played games like musical chairs and even got their nails and face painted at Plant City High School’s cosmetology fairy princess booth.

The Strawberry Festival Queen and her court led the survivors lap at around 6:30 p.m.

The relay went on for 18 hours. In the morning, walkers were tired, but not tired enough to hear songs from a 13 school children’s choir and release balloons into the air in honor of Relay’s 100th birthday.
