Valrico crash kills Durant woman

VALRICO — A Durant woman was killed early Saturday when the vehicle in which she was a passenger crashed on Bloomingdale Avenue near Cade Lane, the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies said Parker Hagin, 21, of Valrico was driving his 2006 Ford F350 pickup westbound on Bloomingdale at about 3:10 a.m. when he lost control and swerved into the median, hitting an oak tree on the passenger side, deputies said. Heather Hinson, 22, of Durant, died at the scene. Deputies said neither she nor Hagin, who suffered minor injuries, were wearing seat belts.

Deputies say an investigation continues into the causes of the crash.

Ms. Hinson is survived by her parents, Kevin and Pam Hinson; sister, Danielle Lee Ettore and brother-in-law, Larry Ettore; grandmothers, Jean Babin, and Doris Dry; nephew, Cole Tucker Ettore; best friend, Savanna Sortore; and many loving aunts, uncles, family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at Hopewell Funeral Home, 6005 C.R. 39 S., Plant City, where the family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m.
