The Plant City Police Department announced the arrest of two additional suspects in connection with a February 29, 2024, homicide that occurred near 1802 W. Baker Street.
During a robbery that began as a dispute over $50, a 14-year-old was shot and killed. On September 15, 2025, members of the Plant City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Patrol Division arrested Angel Romo Jr., 20, of Plant City. On September 22, 2025, Gustavo Ramirez, 24, of Plant City, was arrested in Pasco County with assistance from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Both defendants have been charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree and Robbery in the 1st Degree.
These arrests follow the earlier apprehension of Abraham Melendez, 24, of Plant City, who was taken into custody shortly after the February 2024 homicide and charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
“These cases are extremely challenging and demand extensive collaboration, persistence, and resources,” said Chief of Police Richard Mills, Jr. “The men and women of the Plant City Police Department remain committed to using every tool, technology, and partnership available in our pursuit of justice for victims’ families and in our responsibility to keep the community safe.”
The Plant City Police Department extended its thanks to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the State Attorney’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
