A home on Sam Hicks Road caught on fire Monday, June 6. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue determined the cause of the fire was an unattended stove top.
HCFR responded to the house fire and found smoke coming from the eves of the home. It was able to containing the fire to the
kitchen. The occupant was not home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries to personnel.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, cooking fires are the number one cause of home fires and home injuries. The leading cause of fires in the kitchen is unattended cooking.
