Tampa Bay Storm to play benefit game in Plant City

First responders from the Tampa Bay area will take on the Tampa Bay Storm arena football team in a charity flag football game at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at Otis M. Andrews Sports Complex in Plant City.

All proceeds of the game will benefit the MacDonald Training Center with locations in Tampa and Plant City.

“Whenever you have a chance to entertain and give back to the community, it’s a great thing,” said vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch. “We are all looking forward to getting out there, playing some football, and having fun with our local heroes.”

The Storm will face the Tampa Bay Sentinels, a football team comprised of first responders from the Tampa Bay area, including local members of the military. The team participates in the full contact National Public Safety Football League, a league comprised of teams made up of public safety officers from around the country.

“We are pleased that the Storm and Sentinels will once again play a fun-filled, family friendly, game of football to benefit the MacDonald Training Center and support our community,” said Sentinels general manager, Rex Sano.

The past two years, the two teams have played a charity football game benefitting the Kocab Curtis Foundations and Fallen Firefighter Survivors Foundation, respectively.

Tickets to the game are $7 and can be purchased at the gate the day of the game. Children under five and people with disabilities get in for free. There will also be auction items and a 50/50 raffle with all the proceeds going to benefit the MacDonald Training Center.
