Strawberry Festival art show winners announced

Many have been anxious to learn the results of the judging for the 2015 Florida Strawberry Festival Fine Art Show presented by East Hillsborough Art Guild since they submitted their pieces to the competition Feb. 20. With thousands of dollars in prizes and multiple winners in each category, the show is sure to impress visitors to the festival.

Two additional award opportunities were announced this year. First was an exclusive sponsor for cash awards for all Youth division placements.  Jim Scott of Jarrett-Scott Ford in Plant City accepted the sponsorship for the long term, donating all the division prize money and adding to the scholarship fund. The second addition is also exclusive. Suncoast Credit Union has offered a $500 Purchase Award, creating an opportunity for an artist to sell a piece from the show.  According to Plant City Service Center Manager, Derek Yates, this piece will be on display at the Suncoast Credit Union office here in Plant City for a number of months, and then may be a traveling piece, going on exhibit at their other area branches. Included with their purchase is a duplicate ribbon to remain with the artwork, so that those viewing the painting, will understand its roots in our community.
