Smokin’ Aces Steakhouse prepares for soft opening

Since Smokin’ Aces BBQ took over Chancy’s Catfish Shack nearly three months ago, locals have been asking if popular staples will remain on the new menu.

The answer is yes, co-owner Robert Jordan says. The restaurant is preparing for a tentative soft opening for the new restaurant, dubbed Smokin’ Aces Steakhouse, for the last week of August, just three months after leasing Chancy’s. A grand opening will follow one month later.

“We’ve got a great reputation in the city,” Jordan said.

The new restaurant will be focused on the history of Plant City. Customers can enjoy looking at old photos from the early days of Plant City while they dine on fried catfish and gator sausage, along with traditional menu classics. Jordan and his team are working diligently with Plant City Photo Archives to create a restaurant that presents a friendly atmosphere with the history of the city to both locals and visitors alike. The restaurant will be one of the few local, family-owned restaurants just off of Interstate 4. Jordan is hopeful that a restaurant off the interstate will give those just passing through Plant City a taste of what the community is all about.

“We’re pushing forward,” Jordan said.

Jordan also noted that he was grateful for the leasing opportunity from former Chancy’s owner Charlie Grimes, and for the help that he has received from Joe Keel, owner of Keel and Curely Winery.

Smokin’ Aces Steakhouse has the same address as the former Chancy’s Catfish Shack, located at 2509 N. Park Road in Plant City.
