‘Kole Strong’ fundraiser at Beef’s

Plant City’s Beef ‘O’ Brady’s restaurant is trying to help Durant offensive lineman Kolton “Kole” Smith and his family as the Cougar fights his toughest battle yet.

Smith, a senior, was recently in a car accident that broke his back and left him unable to walk on his own. As he recovers from his injuries and tries his hardest to get back on his feet, the Plant City community is rallying to support him. On Aug. 30, Beef’s will donate 20% of sales from 5 to 9 p.m. plus half of the proceeds from the sale of $20 squares for the first regular-season Tampa Bay Buccaneers game to Smith and his family. The restaurant is located in the Walden Wood Village Plaza at 2418 James L. Redman Parkway.

A GoFundMe called Kole’s Next Play was started to help Smith and his family with medical costs and has raised nearly $8,000 of its $10,000 goal.“Kole Strong” shirts are being sold on Facebook to help raise money for the family and the social media hashtag #nevergiveup62, referencing Smith’s jersey number, is being used by his supporters.
