FOOTBALL

+ F.I.S.H. Hawks play Fridays, too

Want to see something different on the gridiron on Friday nights?

The F.I.S.H. Homeschool group’s football team, the Hawks, have started their 2014 season and are playing their home games under the bright lights at the Otis M. Andrews Sports Complex, 2602 E. Cherry St.. Here’s a look at their home schedule for the rest of the season:

Sept. 5: vs. Seacoast,, 7:30 p.m.

Sept. 12: Hernando, 7:30 p.m.

Sept. 26: vs. Lakeside, 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 10: vs. Spring Hill, 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 24: vs. Donahue; 7 p.m.

Nov. 7: Make-up week (if necessary)

+ Registration open for flag football

The 48th season of the Plant City Recreation and Parks Department/Optimist Youth Flag Football Program is coming soon, and there’s still time to register your child.

A birth certificate is required for each player (must be age 4 to 15 as of Nov. 1), and teams will be divided into the following age groups: 4 to 5, 6 to 7, 8 to 9, 10 to 11, 12 to 13 and 14 to 15.

Games will be held on Saturday mornings, at the Otis M. Andrews Sports Complex, 2402 E. Cherry St. The season runs from Sept. 28 to Nov. 15.

Registration ends Wednesday, Sept. 10, and the cost is $35 per player.

SOFTBALL

+ Registration open for adult softball

The Rec and Parks Department also has announced registration for the Adult Softball League’s fall season ends Sept. 10.

Teams can register for the Monday co-ed league, and the Thursday men’s open and recreational leagues. Depending on when the summer season ends, the fall season is expected to begin mid-September.

The cost is $310 per team, and each team must provide their own balls. Balls can be bought at registration for $5 apiece, six for $20 or 12 for $40.
