LITTLE LEAGUE

+ 11-12 softball wins on no-hitters

In the most impressive feat of the Plant City Little League All-Stars’ current tournament run, the 11-12 Softball All-Star team won its district championship Saturday, June 27, with 18-0 and 15-0 wins over Lake Wales.

The best part is that both wins were shutouts at the hands of pitchers Kayla Swinson and Alyssa Grimes. Swinson got the win in the 9 a.m. game, while Grimes sealed the deal in the 11 a.m. game.

“Everything was working for us,” Grimes said at Monday’s team practice.

The team is now advancing to the sectional tournament in two weeks, for which the schedule has yet to be released.
