Seffner man shot, killed by wife

Ervin Washington, 33, of Seffner was shot at around 5:30 a.m. this morning by his wife, Emon Kellar, 34.

Washington had just been dropped off at their shared residence on Winston Manor Circle. His mother had driven him around his paper route starting at 4 a.m. During this time, Kellar was seen following them closely in her vehicle.

When Washington got out of the car, Kellar arrived, making verbal threats to Washington in front of his mother.

At around 5:30 a.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a deceased male who had been shot at the residence. When deputies arrived, a neighbor said she had heard yelling and had seen Kellar raise her hand towards Washington. She then heard a loud pop.

Kellar allegedly ran inside and told her children that their father had killed himself. Then Kellar was seen attempting to put the firearm into Washington’s left hand.

Kellar was arrested and charged with first degree murder.

Yesterday, Washington had placed a call to his mother at around 10:30 p.m. from the Walmart on Highway 92. He had said that Kellar had stabbed him and slashed the four tires of his truck. His mother had picked him up and took him to her house where she applied first aid to his wound.
