Local children’s entertainer Jerry Crabb, of Mr. BG & Friends, organized for four military families in the Plant City area to receive gifts from Santa Monday, Dec. 22. The initiative is part of the first annual Operation Christmas Freedom.
There are six children. One of the fathers is deployed this Christmas season.
Crabb asked businesses and organizations to sponsor the families with gifts, American Flags and by providing a convertible for Santa and the gifts to ride in. Those organizations include Rollyson Fearnow Insurance, Poppell Insurance, Morrow Steel, Johnson’s Barbecue, Consolidated Pest Control, Woodmen of the World and the Plant City Lions Club.
The families were referred by the local AMVETS Post 26 & 44.
“After performing for families for over five years, my favorite things are still smiles,” Crabb said. “These families have sacrificed so much for us. All of us, including Santa, realize this and want to recognize it. I’ve wanted to do something like this for awhile, thanks to our great community and sponsors here in Plant City we can make it a reality.”
