Polk detectives searching for murder suspect

Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a murder suspect.

According to Sheriff’s Office reports, at about 12:20 a.m., Sept. 22, two black male subjects knocked on the door of a residence located within a mobile home park at 4230 S.R. 60, Mulberry.

A resident answered the door and was knocked unconscious.  The suspects then entered the home and attacked two additional residents.  One victim was a 70-year-old man, who suffered serious injuries.  The elderly victim was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center in critical condition.  The victim died from his injuries at 2:25 p.m., Sept. 24.

The suspects forcibly took property and money from the victims and fled the scene.

Through the investigation, detectives have identified 31-year-old Walter Morrison, of 520 Garden Drive N., Lakeland, as one of suspects. Morrison is currently wanted for first-degree murder, armed robbery, home invasion and armed burglary.
