Police uncover drug operation at car dealership

The Plant City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, along with its Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at Strategic Auto Sales last week, netting one arrest, drugs and a firearm.

The investigation into Strategic Auto Sales began when detectives received citizen complaints that one of the individuals associated with the business, located at 901 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., was possibly involved in the sale and delivery of drugs. Detectives were able to obtain a warrant based on the complaints and other investigative efforts. That warrant was served Dec. 13.

Detectives recovered a firearm, 224.6 grams of marijuana, 52.1 grams cocaine, 4.7 grams of hydromorphone, 17.9 grams of hydrocodone and drug paraphernalia from the business. They arrested George E. Ford, of Plant City, and charged him with possession and trafficking of the above substances. He also was charged with felon in possession of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ford was transported to Orient Road Jail, where he is being held on bond.
