Less than a month ago, Plant City offensive/defensive lineman Montel McBride received an offer from the University of Alabama.
Today, McBride announced that he plans to play football for the Crimson Tide next year. The 6-4, 330-pound class of 2014 prospect made the verbal commitment today at The Opening, a prestigious prospect camp and combine held annually at the Nike world headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.
McBride is among some of the top prospects in the country in Oregon. He reportedly put on an Alabama hat during an interview with ESPNU, the network airing The Opening. Today’s events are scheduled to air tonight on ESPNU and the Watch ESPN app beginning at 9 p.m.
McBride chose Alabama over offers from Florida State, South Florida, Louisville and Auburn, among others.
