Plant City YMCA to honor Joe Sedita

The Plant City Family YMCA is pleased to honor Joe Sedita at its 13th annual Strong Leader Dinner. Sedita’s contributions to the Plant City community echo the Y’s commitment to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

As the retired founder of the accounting and financial management firms, Sedita Kilton & Company CPAs PL, and Sedita Kilton Life & Wealth Management LLC, Sedita’s life motto is, “Don’t let your fears get in the way of your dreams.”

Sedita was honored as Plant City’s 2013 Outstanding Citizen of the Year for making a significant, positive impact on Plant City. He’s a disaster recovery team member for the First United Methodist Church of Plant City and helped clean up a tornado-ravaged area in Alabama last year. Sedita is also an active member of Plant City Toastmasters, which he helped establish in 1985. Sedita has served as a Boy Scout cubmaster, assistant scoutmaster, PTA officer, Sunday school teacher and tutor. He also has held various leadership roles for the Plant City Boys & Girls Club, South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation and Plant City Greater Chamber of Commerce. He served on a number of technical committees and was a speaker for the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Sedita’s recognitions include: Paul Harris Award from The Rotary Foundation; Outstanding Alumnus from the USF Alumni Association’s Plant City Chapter; District Award of Merit from the Boy Scouts of America Gulf Ridge Council; and Outstanding Young Man Award from the Plant City Jaycees.

In addition to his professional and community work, Sedita’s favorite hobbies are spending time with his family, traveling, public speaking, kayaking, writing and riding his Harley-Davidson V-Rod. His mission is to find and use his God-given gifts to make a positive difference in the world and to live adventurously.

Sedita and his wife of 46 years, Paula, have two sons, J.P. and Jeff, and two daughter-in-laws, Elizabeth and Meghan.
