Plant City man killed on I-4

A Plant City man was killed Sunday evening in Seffner when the driver of the pickup truck he was traveling in lost control and the vehicle rolled from Interstate-4 into the Gator Ford parking lot.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Steven Darrell Driggers, 34, was the passenger in a 2007 Ford pickup being driven by Seth Danis David, 33, of Valrico. The truck was traveling westbound on I-4, east of Mango Road, when David tried to move from the outside to center lane. After seeing another vehicle in the center lane, David overcorrected and lost control of the truck, FHP said. The truck spun unto the shoulder before flipping over several times, first hitting a fence, then a light post in the Gator Ford parking lot and coming to a rest.

FHP said neither man was wearing a seatbelt. Driggers was ejected from the vehicle and died on scene. David suffered minor injuries and was treated at St. Joseph’s hospital in Tampa.

FHP said alcohol was not a factor in the crash and charges are pending.
