Pickup truck overturns on interstate, causes no injuries

An overturned pickup truck caused blockage and delays at Interstate 4 and S.R. 39 yesterday afternoon, but no one was injured.

At about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, Todd Myers, 37, of Wesley Chapel, was traveling westbound on I-4, in the exit lane onto S.R. 39. The steering mechanism of his Dodge PK began to malfunction, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered the painted gore.

Once in the gore, the front of the vehicle struck the crash attenuator between the westbound lanes of I-4 and the exit lane to S.R. 39. After the impact, the vehicle overturned, and then came to a rest in the westbound I-4 exit lane to S.R. 39, facing south.

Charla Cole, 36, of Wesley Chapel, was a passenger in the vehicle. Myers and Cole were wearing seatbelts and neither was injured. However, Myers received a ticket for driving while his license was suspended, and for driving with defected equipment.
