WEEK 11: Gaither at Plant City

For their last home game together, the Plant City seniors were honored at midfield before kickoff. In return, they thanked the home crowd with a 28-20 win over Gaither.

The Raiders (8-2) got off to a hot start, ending the first quarter with a 14-0 lead thanks to a 24-yard Sterling Day run and a 35-yard touchdown pass to Tavares Chase. Shortly after the second quarter began, quarterback Landon Galloway found himself in the end zone with a one-yard sneak.

But here’s where the Cowboys (5-5) found some answers. Following an 80-yard kickoff return, athlete Javon Hammond broke off a seven-yard run to put Gaither on the board.

The Raiders followed up with what appeared to be another big touchdown pass to Chase, but it was called back on a penalty. Gaither scored again when Jeff Suarez hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass of his own.

Hassan Bailey put Plant City ahead for good in the third quarter’s only scoring play, a 10-yard run that was capped with Sawyer Dawson’s successful two-point conversion.

Next week, the Raiders will face a tough test at Sickles.
