What looked like a quick win for the Durant Lady Cougars got out of hand in the third set, and Plant City turned Thursday night’s game into a classic.
Durant still won in five sets, but it wasn’t smooth sailing. The Lady Cougars took the first two sets, 25-22 each time, and looked in control for much of the third. But, a late Lady Raiders rally took the score to 28-26, and the crowd was treated to extra sets.
The fourth set, by far the most action-packed of the night, saw several lead changes and ties. Durant came back from a 24-21 deficit to tie, then took it to 25-25 and 26-26, but the Lady Raiders came right back and took the next two points to force a fifth set.
Durant got ahead early in that one, though, and ended up with a 15-11 score to clinch the win.
