The Chargers mingled with their classmates one last time on May 27 as the Class of 2021 said farewell and received their diplomas.
Held at the Florida State Fairgrounds the evening graduation was filled with masked students and parents alike. The ceremony began promptly at 8 p.m. and this year’s class entered to a set up unlike any other. Rather than have the students file in the graduates were sent to grab last minute photos and share hugs with their friends on the open floor while their guardians funneled into the stands. The students were instructed to take their seats a few minutes before the ceremony began and then much remained on its normal schedule.
All of the students and most of the family in attendance wore masks to the gathering and many of the conversations outside of the hall revolved around the untraditional school year the entire class had juggled with.
It truly was a year they will not soon forget as was mentioned multiple times by the speakers and graduates themselves.
