State Senator Tom Lee took part in a special presentation at the Plant City Elks Lodge on Oct. 17 where he presented the Lodge with flags representing the five branches of military service.
The Lodge had long been searching for a way to purchase five high quality flags, but Judy Wise, Elks Lodge veterans chairman, said they tended to use their excess funds to help local veterans rather than purchase the desired flags.
She reached out to Lee and he immediately jumped at the opportunity to help. The flags were purchased and presented by Lee during the special ceremony where he discussed his admiration of veterans and love of the United States military.
He said he has learned a lot in his years of politics, but found he could always trust his fellow senators who had served in the armed forces would stay true to their word. He shared anecdotes of serving in office and thanked the many members of the Lodge present, who were veterans, for their service.
