Senior Calaydria Callins named 2015 PCHS homecoming queen

Senior Calaydria Callins was named the 2015 Plant City High School homecoming queen during halftime at the Friday, Oct. 2, football game.

Callins and the other candidates for homecoming queen were driven around the track in Chevrolet Camaros provided by Stingray Chevrolet.

They then were escorted onto the field by family members and friends to await the homecoming queen announcement.

Many of the girls ran for homecoming queen because of the fashion and fun, such as seniors Deanna Rodriguez and Ashley Farmer.

Others had never run before. Senior Derykah Dixon decided she wanted to run this year because it’s her last year at Plant City High School.

“I would thank God and everybody above,” Dixon said about her reaction if she had won.

Isaac Villafañe wanted to do something fun for his senior year, and he chose running for homecoming court.

“It’ll be an experience that I’ll never forget,” Villafañe said.

The homecoming king will be announced at 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the homecoming dance at the Florida Strawberry Festival Grounds Expo Hall, 2301 W. Oak Ave.
