Plant City Noon Rotary’s Second Annual Community Appreciation Day

The Plant City Noon Rotary hosted the second annual Community Appreciation Fun Day Saturday at the Randy Larson Softball Complex from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Members of the community were able to meet with local emergency responders ranging from the Plant City Police Department to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The Plant City Rescue offered demonstrations on how they save people trapped in vehicles, children were able to climb into the HCSO’s helicopter and the Incident Command Center Truck.  Bounce houses, dunk tanks, rock climbing and bungee jumping were also available along with free food and drinks.

The first 500 children received a free back to school bag.

“It feels great to be connected to an event that is literally here to create community awareness and foster community togetherness,” Nia Ramo, a volunteer handing out back-to-school bags, said. “Getting the kids connected to the Fire Department and the Police Department is so important. We want to build these relationships. No kid should be terrified to be rescued by their police or firemen.”
