It’s a new day at Strawberry Crest high school. The Chargers picked up the program’s first signature win Saturday night by beating Plant City 21-7.

The Chargers defense came up big in containing a Raiders team that is dealing with the loss of 22 seniors to graduation. The Strawberry Crest offense ate up yards on the ground with running back Chris Perez, and had some big plays through the air thanks to Karel Hamilton, who had two big touchdown receptions.

The Raiders struggled offensively in the first half, but showed life in the second off a big night from freshman Ervin Micheal. Micheal ran for 186 yards and gave the Raiders their only score of the night on a 13-yard run in the third quarter.
