Derek F. Hartmann was sworn in as Plant City’s newest police officer during a ceremony April 12, at the Plant City Police Department, 1 Police Place.
Chief Steve Singletary, public information officer Tray Towles and City Manager Greg Horwedel gave opening remarks. Among those in attendance were former police chief and current assistant city manager, Bill McDaniel and Hartmann’s fiancee, Marni Evans, who pinned on Hartmann’s badge.
Hartmann hopes to go into a specialized field within the department such as the canine unit or the emergency response team.
