PHOTO GALLERY: Mr. Charger 2014

Eight of Strawberry Crest High School’s most muscular young men entered the auditorium Friday night with one goal: to be the first to make history.

At 8:30 p.m., Alejandro Lopez made it happen.

Lopez is now the first “Mr. Charger” in school history, coming out on top in a close battle between fellow top-four finishers Devin Parks (who won runner-up), Sebastian Fearon and Bradley Benefield.

“It feels great,” Lopez says. “I’ve been training really hard. I’ve wanted this more than anything – I’ve been busting my butt off in the gym. Hard work pays off.”

Contestants began with a round of group posing, and then broke off to perform individual routines to music of their choice. Some went with classic posing, some danced, and others – Benefield (“Baywatch”) and Lee Edwards (“Lion King”) – incorporated some popular themes to mix things up.
