The Lights of Love Celebration sparked some holiday cheer among its hundreds of spectators.

The annual event, held on Dec. 6 at McCall Park kicked off the Christmas season in downtown Plant City.

The park was transformed into a winter wonderland complete with elves, Christmas trees and even Frosty the snowman.

The event is hosted by South Florida Baptist Hospital and a slew of other sponsors.

“We’re going to net about $25,000 which supports the community outreach programs for South Florida Baptist Hospital,” director of the Lights of Love foundation at South Florida Baptist Hospital Jana Butler says. “And those programs are like our wellness on wheels mobile unit, our ladies night out education series and our faith community nursing programs.”

You pop group NRG and the First Baptist Church of Plant City provided evening entertainment as families and couples enjoyed the glittering displays.

“My favorite part is the amount of people that we get here,” Butler says. “We get over 300 people to attend. My second favorite is all the children that have their photos with Santa tonight. Santa’s come from the North Pole tonight to be here this evening. So we have lots of children that will see Santa.”

The displays will be lit every night until the first of the year.
