PHOTO GALLERY: Friends of Scouting Dinner 2016

The annual Plant City Friends of Scouting Dinner was held Thursday, Feb. 11. Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts and their friends, family and supporters enjoyed dinner and a presentation honoring this year’s 2016 Dean Snyder Soaring Eagle recipient, Steve Hurley.

Vice Mayor Bill Dodson and 2015 Soaring Eagle recipient Al Berry both spoke on Hurley’s behalf before presenting him with the award.

Hurley, who grew up in Lakeland, moved to Plant City in 2008 and opened Stingray Chevrolet shortly thereafter. He is heavily involved in Unity in the Community, and served as the organization’s chairman for two years. Every year, he and his wife, Susan, donate a vehicle to be raffled off, with all proceeds from the raffle going back to Unity in the Community. To date, Hurley has raised over $750,000 from those vehicle raffles.

In addition to his work with Unity in the Community, Hurley is currently a member of the Tampa Local Market Area Chevrolet dealer’s board and the Plant City Economic Development Corp.
