The Durant homecoming dance was the final event in a week full of school spirit.

The theme, Circus, was a hit as students dressed in rhinestone incrusted gowns and flashy jewelry. The dance started at 7 p.m. at the Madonia Agricultural Center on Saturday, Oct. 13.

During the week students dressed as the elderly and 1920’s flappers and gangsters for spirit week.

Durant held its annual homecoming parade on Thursday as floats paraded around the track at the football stadium featuring lions, a kissing booth and of course Durant’s mascot, the Cougar.

After the junior varsity game Oct. 11, the varsity cheerleaders were given pies to the face and principal Pam Bowden was slimed. The Durant step team also preformed.

The week concluded with a 49-0 win for the varsity football team over Chamberlain Oct. 12 and the homecoming dance at the Strawberry Festival grounds Oct. 13.
