The Strawberry Crest volleyball team fell 3-1 to Sickles Thursday night in the 6A District 11 tournament championship.

The Lady Chargers took the first game 25-17, but Sickles rallied to take the next two games 25-17 and 25-14 before grinding out a 27-25 win in the fourth game. The win marked the third straight year Sickles won the district tournament.

“They (Sickles) played better than they have in the past couple weeks. They got they’re confidence up and were swinging hard and our serve-recieve broke down a little bit and that’s what we’re the strongest at,” said Strawberry Crest head coach Morgan Miltner. “That’s what we rely on, but there was just a few plays here and there that made the difference.”

Strawberry Crest fell short of winning their first district title in the program’s short history, but the Lady Chargers are headed to the region tournament, beginning Oct. 30.

“That’s what I told the team,” Miltner said after the loss. “We’re in regionals and we could win regionals. “This wasn’t a season ending loss for us and we’re just looking forward to our next game and want to keep getting better and better.”
