The Tampa Bay Sentinels, a full-contact football team comprised of first responders and military from around the Tampa Bay area, took on the St. Pete Green Machine in a charity flag football game at Otis M. Andrews Sports Complex Saturday in Plant City.

Money raised by the game benefited the MacDonald Training Center, a non-profit that strives to empower people with disabilities to live the lives they choose. MTC has locations in Tampa and Plant City.

The Geen Machine, a flag football team made up of members of the St. Petersburg police department, replaced the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League after the Storm made the decision to forego the charity game to be at the funeral of teammate Chandler Williams, who died unexpectedly Jan. 6 in a flag football tournament in Miami.

According to Sentinels president Randall Door, the Green Machine were brought on Thursday to replace the Storm in the charity game. The Green Machine are defending state flag football champions.
