To paraphrase host Rhett Rollyson, the winner of the Florida Strawberry Festival’s inaugural Battle of the Bands went from ‘Almost There’ to getting there — winning the contest’s top prize.
Almost There and G.W. Souther, the top two finalists, went head-to-head on the Wish Farms Soundstage on March 9. Though both bands played energetic, well-received sets, it was Almost There that won the judges’ and fans’ favor, $10,000 and 25 hours of studio time at All Access Recording. G.W. Souther received $5,000 for placing second and Kayla Ember received $1,000 for placing third.
