Crowds line street for MLK Freedom Parade

  • The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Parade was led by the Plant City Police Department.

  • Multiple local middle schools and high schools participated in the parade.

  • Former State Representative Dan Raulerson was a marshal for the parade.

  • Mayor Rick Lott threw beads to spectators on MLK Blvd.

  • Vice Mayor Bill Dodson and City Commissioner Nate Kilton kicked off the parade and threw prizes to children.

  • The parade is part of the annual celebrations for the MLK Festival held by the Improvement League of Plant City.

  • The Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce also took part in the parade.

  • Plant City High School's Marching Raiders played band classics and cheered for the audience.

  • Masonic Lodge #206 waved to the audience and tossed goodies to those gathered on the sidewalks.

  • Dazzling Dynasty's Show Stoppers showed off their moves during the parade.

  • New Grace Chapel CME Church themed their parade entry around the theme of the festival: "Unity: Tearing Down the Walls that Divide."

  • Members from New Grace Chapel CME Church rode and walked along MLK Blvd for the parade.

  • Children danced and showed off their skills during the parade.

  • The Hillsborough County Democrats gave out flags to onlookers and wore donkey hats.

  • The Tomlin Tiger Band played tunes for the crowd as they marched during the annual Freedom Parade.

  • The Citrus Center Boys & Girls Clubs brought along some skilled riders for the parade.

  • Wild 94.1 blasted its party tunes and tossed beads to onlookers. The station later set up shop at the MLK Village Street Fair.

  • The parade was full of different organizations and clubs that all came out to show their support for Plant City.

Frigid winds and an overcast sky didn’t stop Plant City from lining the streets for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Parade. The marshals were Dan Raulerson former State Representative and Ricardo Coronado, a pastor and community activist. 

Children caught mutli-colored beads, candy and flags as they watched local bands, churches and organizations drive by. The parade was led by the Plant City Police Department and was hosted by the Improvement League of Plant City.
