Photo Essay: Home is where the heart is

Editor's note: The spring 2016 Raider Review photo essays by journalism students at Plant City High School are part of an ongoing series spearheaded by the Plant City Times & Observer and journalism teacher Jennifer Hamilton. The purpose is to teach students photography basics and the magic of storytelling.

Families stand by each other.

After school my brother reads to me because my mom works late, so she asks me to do it with him to help out. Everyday after school he has to read at least one book to better his reading skills.
We like going out to restaurants when my mom gets a day off so that we can spend time together talking about our day and our problems. We become closer everyday. We are always there for each other no matter what happens.
My stepdad is always in a hurry to get to the car anytime we go out. We all race to the car and joke around with each other.
When we head home, we all sing really loud in the car. My brother and sister fight in the back of the car over who can sing the loudest. My mom always sings to me really loud.
My mom loves when I sit down and watch TV with her even though she doesn’t tell me. I always cuddle next to her after she gets out of work and tell her everything and we watch a movie. I try to spend a lot of time with her.
My brother gets so excited when he plays the Xbox. He always beats me. He laughs at me when he wins. I think it’s fun sitting next to him and playing the game he loves and seeing him happy.
My sister helps my mom with the dishes because we know she’s tired after work. The dog, Ally, is from the street. She was hurt badly and very dirty. My mom picked her up and took her home to become part of our family.
We sit on the couch and watch my brother and cousin play together. They love to be together whenever they have a chance. We talk while they play.
