Editor's note: The spring 2016 Raider Review photo essays by journalism students at Plant City High School are part of an ongoing series spearheaded by the Plant City Times & Observer and journalism teacher Jennifer Hamilton. The purpose is to teach students photography basics and the magic of storytelling.

Pets can do the funniest things.

Dog Marley and cat Schatzi sit on the couch next to each other. Both of them like to lie on random spots on the couch, though Marley does it more than Schatzi does.
Marley is a total attention hog. She jumps on people who she doesn’t see often and immediately starts licking them. Here she is licking my Aunt Katie’s hand.
Schatzi likes looking out of the sliding glass door. I think it’s because she likes looking at all the animals that are outside. But it could also be the fact that she’s not allowed to go outside, so she looks outside to see what it is like out there.
This is Marley sleeping in one of her beds. This is her bed in my dad’s office because she prefers to sleep in that one. She is a total daddy’s girl, so a lot of the time she follows him around whenever he’s home.
Schatzi likes lying on top of the chest that is in our living room. She jumps on top of it all the time and even nudges my stuff when I put my stuff on top of it in the mornings before school.
Marley seems to notice every noise. When I took this picture, I was trying to sneak up on her, but it didn’t work. She turned toward me with a look that said, ‘Why are you taking my picture?’
I was taking pictures of Schatzi on the stairwell when she started wanting me to pet her. She started rubbing against me trying to get my attention while I was taking pictures of her.
