PCHS soccer celebrates alumni

By Matt Mauney | Associate Editor

It was an eventful night for Plant City High soccer Dec. 14, as the girls program celebrated Senior Night and the boys team held its second annual Alumni Night.

After Senior Night festivities, which honored the Lady Raiders’ three seniors — Kellee Brown, Nidia Castro and Nidia Gutierrez — the Plant City girls got a big 2-0 win over rival Strawberry Crest.

Christina Gutierrez and Kelle Brown scored the two goals for the Lady Raiders in the final five minutes of what appeared to be a stalemate of a game.

In the boys game, Strawberry Crest defeated Plant City 2-0, thanks to two goals by junior Aldair Moralez-Sanchez. Senior Noah Shaffer picked up both assists for the Chargers.

Plant City recognized alumni of the program. Former players in attendance included those from teams as far back as the inaugural 1981 team to 2012 graduates.
