PCHS soccer books first state tourney trip

Plant City High School's boys soccer team is going where no previous Raiders have gone before.

The team won the 5A-Region 2 championship Wednesday night with a 3-1 road win over the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes, which was highlighted by a second-half explosion from the Raiders offense. After going into halftime locked in a scoreless tie, Ricardo Rosales, Rex Lott and Paulino Ramirez each found the back of the Hurricanes' net and helped put Plant City ahead for good.

Now, for the first time ever, the Raiders are going to play in the state championship series.

Plant City's semifinal game will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday against Seminole (25-1-3). This game will be played at Seminole High School, 2701 Ridgewood Ave., Sanford, and the 5A state championship series finale will be played at 1 p.m. next Saturday, Feb. 24, at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium at Stetson University, 260 E. Euclid Ave., DeLand.
