Police are investigating a Friday traffic crash along Alexander Street near Frontage Road that left one person dead.
According to the Plant City Police Department, the passenger of a van driving north on Alexander Street fell from the vehicle as it approached the Interstate-4 overpass. Northbound traffic, police said, was unable to avoid striking the victim, who died at the scene. PCPD Chief Ed Duncan said impairment is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
The victims name has not been released, pending next of kin notification. More details will be posted as they become available. The investigation is ongoing.
