A Plant City woman is believed to have died from smoke inhalation after a house fire on Bond Street Monday, May 30, according to the Plant City Police Department.
PCPD was dispatched to the fire at 12:35 a.m. and then learned the home was occupied. Officers found Virginia M. Carpenter, 78, unresponsive inside of the home.
Officers moved her outside, where Plant City Fire Rescue and officers worked jointly to aid to Carpenter. She was transported by PCFR to South Florida Baptist Hospital. She died at the hospital.
The State Fire Marshal was notified and conducted an investigation on scene. The investigation is ongoing.
