Obituary: Jan Johnson Sargent

Jan Johnson Sargent, 56, died Dec. 16, 2014, at home, following cardiac arrest.

She was a native of Plant City, and formerly of Georgia, North Carolina and other Florida locales. She moved back to Plant City eight years ago. She was a graduate of Plant City High School. Her professional highlights included John Nuveen Securities Broker, Jeff Johnson State Farm and the Florida Sterling Council. She was a world traveler, certified master gardener and food preserver, played the piano and loved animals, particularly, Sterling, her beloved cat. Mrs. Sargent loved entertaining, and she made friends wherever she went. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, F. C. Johnson Jr. She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Adams Johnson; sister, Joan Johnson Rayburn (Larry), of Tampa; brother, Jeff M. Johnson (Cheryl), of Chattanooga, Tennessee; nephews, Seth Johnson (Lindsey), of Los Angeles, California, and Scott Johnson, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; niece, Sarah Johnson, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the South.

There was a visitation Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Hopewell Funeral Home. Private interment at Hopewell Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Ministries at TheLightHouseMinistries.org, Metropolitan Ministries at Metromin.org and/or Wounded Warrior Project at WoundedWarriorProject.org.
