James R. “Jim” Godwin, 81, died June 8, in Brandon.
Mr. Godwin was a lifelong resident of Plant City. After 38 years at Tampa Electric, he retired as general manager of Gannon Station Power Plant. He served for 33 years in the U.S. Army National Guard and retired as a full bird colonel.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry, and father, John.
Mr. Godwin is survived by his mother, Cecil Ruth Godwin; wife of 62 years, Betty; daughter, Lisa Godwin Harris (Jay); brother, Jack (Shirley); one grandson, Emmanuel Houvardas; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held June 14, at Turkey Creek Baptist Cemetery, in Plant City.
