Obituary: James ‘€œNimp’€ Whittley

James J. “Nimp” Whittley, 69, of Plant City, and formerly of Lakeland, died March 29, 2015.

He was born, reared and educated in Lakeland. He moved to Rochester, New York, in the early 70s, and lived and worked there for over a decade. In the early 80s, Mr. Whittley moved back to Florida and established residency in Plant City. He was employed in the phosphate industry as a wrencher and loader in operations. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and people.

He is survived by sons, James H. Whittley (Maria) and Justin Whittley; sisters, Albertha Whittley-Tabron and Margo Taylor-Thompson; brother, Leroy Whittley Jr.; and three grandchildren and a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. Mr. Whittley was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Whittley Sr.; and his mother, Ruth Moore Whittley.

Services were held April 10 First Baptist Institutional Church in Lakeland.
