Obituary: Herbert E. Watkins Sr.

Herbert E. Watkins Sr., 85, of Brandon, died Oct. 3, 2013 at home.

Mr. Watkins will truly be missed by all that knew him. He touched so many with his gift of giving and kindness. He was a man of so many talents, accomplishments and abilities. Early in life, he was a flight engineer for PAN AM, then Saudi Arabian Airlines (TWA). Later in life, he became a licensed insurance underwriter and salesman, with Lincoln Insurance Company, from which he retired. Of all his accomplishments in life, he treasured his family the most and devoted his life to it.

He was preceded in death in 1972, by his first wife, Virginia L. Watkins, and second wife, Mary Ann Watkins, in 2001.

He is survived by his children, Herbert E. Watkins Jr., Stephen D. Watkins, David B. Watkins, Linda Lancaster and Jennifer Pond; his sister, Mavis Evers; daughter-in-law, Deborah J. Watkins; son-in-law, Vincent Pond Jr.; grandchildren, Herbert E. Watkins III (Chet), Janice Watkins, Stephen Watkins, Jordan Watkins, Ava Watkins, Gina Watkins and Michelle Watkins; great-grandchildren, Brittany Hood, Ashley Hood, Elizabeth Watkins, Leah-Anne Pond and Christopher Faulkner Jr.; and great-great grandchild, Brodi Dorman.

Funeral services were Oct. 9, Wells Memorial and Event Center, Plant City, with Dr. Ron Churchill officiating.

Burial took place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
