Obituary: Donald Verle Rutherford Jr.

Donald Verle Rutherford Jr., 78, died Friday, May 5, at his home in Blairsville, Georgia, following a terminal illness. 

He was born and raised in (Durant) Dover, the son of Donald Verle Rutherford Sr. and Cleo Valdee Rutherford. He was a lifelong resident of the Brandon area. He married his wife, Anne Rutherford, on March 16, 1963. He was a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather and the lasting memories he created with all that loved him will forever be cherished.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Anne Bradford Rutherford; son, Tim Rutheford; daughters, Lori Duckworth (Clarence), Lynn Copeland (Warner), Terri Nix (Perry) and Dawn Warren (Richard); grandchildren, Brandon, Griffin, Austin, Bailey, Schuyler, Carter, Cassidy, Owen, Grace, Aiden, Lily, Charlotte, Bella and Saylor; and great-granddaughter, Blakely. 

A funeral service was held May 11, at Blairsville Church of Christ in Blairsville, Georgia. 

A burial service will be held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Plant City at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 37022 Boone, Iowa 50037-0022.
