Obituary: Barbara Sandifer Powers

Barbara Sandifer Powers, 57, of Plant City, died April 20, 2015, in hospice care, after her courageous, three-and-a-half year battle with cancer.

Mrs. Powers was born June 24, 1957, in Bartow. She grew up in Lithia and graduated from Plant City High School in 1975. She attended Hillsborough Community College. She was active in many civic and service organizations, especially the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce. She owned and operated Barbara Powers Promotions Inc., a recipient of the Small Business of the Year award. She loved to fish, boat, play golf, bake, entertain her family and friends and travel. She loved to laugh and make people laugh. She will be deeply missed. One of her favorite Bible passages was Isaiah 41:10: ”Do not fear, for l am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

She is survived by her husband and best friend of 25 years, Matt; identical twin sister, Brenda; sister, Karen; brother, James; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A special thanks to Dr. Simeon Jaggernauth, the Dream Team and the entire staff of Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Lifepath Hospice.
